Forrest Out of School Hours Care (FOOSHC) is community based, not –for-profit education and care service proudly operated by a volunteer Parent and Community Management Committee from the Forrest community. They are the first and only, OSHC to be rated Excellent (twice) under the National Quality Framework (NQF), successfully joining the ranks of only three other OSHC services across Australia to receive this excellent rating.(2023). Currently 150 children attend the service daily and over 380 children a week. They offer Before school care and After school Care as well as Vacation Care operating on the school site. The ACT Education Directorate lease the building and relevant premises to the Forrest P&C who run Fooshc as a separate entity within the schoolgrounds . Fooshc as an award-winning service has a Playwork based philosophy which underpins their pedagogy and practice. Everything they do is in the best interests of the child. They advocate for children’s voices to be heard and they honour and respect their rights, views and ‘being’ as the foundation of their program.
